Your body is capable of recovering from all kinds of injuries. But to ensure you’re healing properly while gaining strength at the same time, you need to go through rehabilitation. During rehab, you’ll work one-on-one with Dr. Meyer or one of the expert rehabilitation therapists at Body Focus Health Center. They’ll teach you exercises and get you set up on an exercise regimen you can do between appointments. You’ll also receive a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. The plan can include:
The numbers of sessions depend on your specific injury and how quickly you heal. Dr. Meyer likes to have you come in about two to three times per week for the first few weeks. After a couple of months of rehabilitation, you’ll gradually start cutting back to one to two times per week.
While the ultimate goal is to have you stronger and healthier than you were before your injury occurred, many men and women keep coming back for routine maintenance. Even when you’re all healed, you can certainly schedule visits once or twice a month just to make sure everything is still in line. This way, you’ll have someone looking over you to make sure you’re progressing as you should while making any minor tweaks to prevent injuries from occurring in the future.
Including chiropractic adjustments in your rehabilitation plan isn’t just about relieving back pain. Chiropractic adjustments realign your entire skeleton. Your spine is made up of 24 vertebrae. Every time you twist, turn, bend over, lie down, or sit, those vertebrae are supposed to move with you. If any vertebrae get stuck or don’t move as they should, which is called a subluxation or misalignment, you likely feel pain.
That discomfort doesn’t only occur in your back though. You can feel pain in other joints anywhere in your body. Just because you don’t have pain right now, doesn’t mean you’re done with rehab, or that nothing is wrong. Sometimes, misalignments and subluxations don’t cause pain until months or years later. Because Dr. Meyer is an expert at aligning your spine and skeleton, your rehabilitation is sure to be a success.
